The Bench Approach
Every watch that arrives at Verge Foliot goes through the same intake process regardless of which service it is booked for. The piece is photographed, current condition is noted, and the owner's brief is recorded. Only once that record is in place does the assessment begin.
Assessment happens under magnification. For quartz pieces, current draw is measured before the case is opened. For mechanical chronographs, timing traces are taken in multiple positions to establish a performance baseline. For cosmetic commissions, high-resolution images of the dial and hands are taken before any cleaning or chemical contact.
The scope of work is then agreed in writing. Prices are fixed at that point. If anything discovered during the service changes the situation — a worn part that needs replacing, for example — the owner is contacted before the work continues.
Completion follows the same documentation standard: measurements taken again, results recorded, bench note written. The note travels with the watch.

Service 01
Quartz Module Service and Cell Renewal
RM 470 · Turnaround: 1–3 working days
A bench appointment for battery-powered watches. The movement is opened, the cell is renewed with the correct type for that module, contacts and terminals are cleaned, current draw is measured to confirm the module is performing rather than simply depleted, and the case is resealed with fresh gaskets.
Suited to daily-wear quartz pieces, chronographs with sub-registers that have stopped resetting, and watches that have been sitting unworn in a drawer for an extended period. The current draw measurement is the step that separates this from a cell swap — a module drawing significantly more than specification usually indicates a developing fault that a new cell alone will not address.

Process Steps
Intake photography and current draw test. The watch is photographed and connected to the meter before opening.
Case opening and cell assessment. The cell is inspected, its type confirmed, and replacement sourced.
Contact cleaning and hand check. Terminals are cleaned, hand alignment is confirmed, and any obvious service items addressed.
Gasket renewal and resealing. New gaskets are fitted and the case is closed to specification torque.
Pressure test and bench note. Dry pressure test completed; results and current draw reading recorded on the bench note.

Service 02
Chronograph Complication Service
RM 2,340 · Bench time: 4–7 weeks
A deeper bench service for column-wheel and cam-actuated chronographs. The chronograph works are separated from the base calibre, cleaned and lubricated to their own specification, and the reset hammer, clutch, and heart pieces are adjusted so that starting, stopping, and returning to zero all behave predictably.
Rate is then regulated with the chronograph engaged and disengaged, since the two states load the movement differently. Both sets of timing traces are included in the bench note on return.

Process Steps
Baseline timing traces. Movement measured in six positions with chronograph engaged and disengaged.
Disassembly and ultrasonic cleaning. Chronograph works removed separately; all parts cleaned and inspected.
Calibre-specific lubrication. Reassembly with lubricants matched to each component type and surface speed.
Chronograph adjustment. Clutch, reset hammer, and heart pieces adjusted for clean start, stop, and reset.
Post-service traces and bench note. Final timing data recorded in both states; bench note written and prepared for return.
Service 03
Dial and Hand Refinishing Commission
RM 4,180 · Duration: 8–14 weeks
A commissioned cosmetic programme carried out with the owner's brief agreed in writing first. Options range from conservative cleaning that leaves aged lume and honest wear intact, through to full dial refinishing with reprinted markers and re-lumed hands matched to the original tone.
Because refinishing is not reversible, the commission always begins with a documented consultation and a set of reference photographs so that decisions are recorded before any work starts. Colour matching samples are presented for approval before any finishing process begins.

Surface cleaning, light treatment of oxidation, hands polished. Aged lume and honest wear preserved.
Complete dial refinishing with reprinted markers, lume re-application, hand refinishing and protective sealing.

Shared Technical Standards
Owner Data Privacy
Contact and watch details are held only for the duration of the service and for three years in the bench log. No details are shared with third parties.
Measurement Before and After
Relevant performance measurements — current draw, timing traces, pressure test results — are taken at intake and again on completion for every applicable service type.
Single-Premises Work
All bench work takes place at 17 Lorong Toh Aka. No parts of the service are sub-contracted or sent offsite without prior agreement with the owner.
Change Communication
If a development during the service changes the scope or cost, work pauses and the owner is contacted before it resumes. Nothing is decided unilaterally.
Careful Storage Between Stages
Watches are stored in labelled trays in a temperature-stable part of the bench room while awaiting stages or completion. Cases and straps are kept together with the movement at all times.
Bench Log Retention
Service records are retained in the bench log for three years from the date of return. Owners can request a copy of their record at any point during that period.
